Nurturing Ourselves

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Friday, August 23, 2013,
Life has been changing all around me left and right.  I had told my husband in January that I somehow knew that this was going to be a tough year for me...and it has been.  But, here is some food for thought...has it been a hard year because I sensed something and it has come to pass; has it been hard because of a self fulfilling prophecy; has it been hard because of life situations; and/or has it been tough because I spoke those words and it has come to pass?  Well, to be honest, I think tha...

My Mommy

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Tuesday, April 16, 2013,
As previously mentioned, my mother passed away on Easter Sunday.  I thought that this would be an appropriate time to tell you about her near death experiences.  She would never have shared them while she was alive because she would have worried of people ridiculing her as to the truth and accuracy of her story.  But, I think that with Mother's Day approaching and mothers who have lost or aborted their children, this would be a short story of hope.

Mom said that when she arrived "there", she m...

My Mommy is ailing....

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Monday, March 25, 2013,
This is a post that I just placed within the safe haven of the Pazzles Craftroom where I have come to know many, many people.  I just thought that it would be easier to explain once instead of twice.  I will say this though and you will understand after you read this current blog.....the files for next month are already done...I was trying to get ahead.  I haven't made a newsletter for them yet or posted them yet though.  So, I just wanted you to know that they will be posted...I just don't k...

I feel like the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Saturday, September 29, 2012,
Yes, you read the title right.  As I walk up and down my street, I see signs for Obama in one yard and Romney in the next yard. On my last count, I would say that from these signs, they are running neck to neck. But, there are tons of yards without any signs in them, including mine. I think that they are both nice people, but I personally don't want either of them running my country for a variety of different reasons. So, I feel that I am like the scarecrow perched on a pole telling Doro...

I had a dream!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Saturday, June 9, 2012,
A few weeks ago, I had a dream that nagged me when I woke up.  I went back to sleep and continued the dream where I had left off. I woke up again and realized that I had again continued the dream.....which was mundane....but it felt funny.  I went back to sleep and had the dream again...slightly different...woke up...and felt like it had been a nightmare because my heart was racing and I was sweating.  It wasn't a nightmare though.  So, I sat there in bed wide awake at 3 AM wondering what THA...

Guard YOUR Identity!!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Saturday, April 21, 2012,
A few months after I met my husband, he went to buy a new car.  He needed to finance it and confidently signed papers.  The dealer came back, looked at Cliff and said....sorry man....but your credit is in the toilet!  Cliff was stunned.  After doing some research, he found out that he had been embezzled.  I have run into countless others who have told similar tragic stories.  It has taken Cliff ten years to get his credit re-established...and it hasn't been easy.  We have gotten other le...

All or Nothing!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Friday, March 16, 2012,
Do you remember when you were a kid and would try to negotiate with your parents about things that you wanted to do...and would hear the phrase, "It's my way or the highway!"  Oh, how I hated hearing that.  Then, when I became a teacher, I found myself saying it to kids who would challenge my authority.  Is that what it is....a challenge to one's authority.  The person with authority feels threatened and tries to maintain their control of an issue by saying the "highway" phrase?

As we grew...

1st Amendment and Face Book

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Saturday, March 3, 2012,
Can we combine the 1st Amendment and Face Book?  It seems not after this past week.  I was in deep squat for giving an opinion.  Where do we draw the line?  I know that there is etiquette to consider....so why do the whistle blowers get away with all sorts of F*** words and C*** words, etc....and get away with it?  Is that etiquette?  I also know that it is easier to spout off on Face Book then it is to a person's face and take that into consideration, but what about having opinions that go a...

My Mother's "Hallucination"

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Friday, February 24, 2012,
I talked to Mom in depth the other day because the night before she gave us quite a fright.  She had been in the hospital where they took her off of her BP meds saying that she didn't need them.  Well, when she got back to the nursing home, my 86 year old mother had her BP skyrocket to 189/145.  The nursing home called us to tell us what was going on and that they were trying to calm her down because she appeared to be hallucinating.  Apparently she was talking about "prints" and was crying a...

Health Awareness or another month of FEAR?

I hope that I do not offend anyone with what I am about to say....but I am sick and tired of these health awareness months.  Years ago, I was told that I had cancer of the breast and that I had 6 months to live....I have told this story in one of these blogs...you can go and read it if you are interested.  I am all for screenings...for follow ups...they can save lives.  So, please don't misunderstand what I am about to say...but enough is enough....

I love dairy...but it doesn't love me...

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Thursday, January 26, 2012,
This past weekend, I got to go to a scrapbook retreat up in Jacksonville, Florida.  It was a last minute invitation from a scrap booking pal who belongs to a Yahoo Group.  Apparently, someone else who belongs to the group canceled out.  I got to go.  As a result, I did not post any new files last week.  It wasn't because I hadn't made them.  They were ready to go.  I had planned on posting them this past Monday...just a few days late...and I had notified my Yahoo Group that this would be...

A letter to our Children

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Monday, December 5, 2011,
I can't believe that I am airing dirty laundry.  But, after talking to friends of my generation, I see this as an epidemic.  I think that as you read this, some of you will sigh relief to know that you are not alone.

When I was a child, a young adult, and presently an old lady :), one thing that I have always worried about, was disappointing my mother.  I never want to disappoint her.  I know that I have  disappointed her in the past, but life is full of mistakes and regrets that we learn to...

Someone once asked me why I retired so young...

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Saturday, December 3, 2011,
When I was a teacher, towards the end of my tenure, my population of children were coming in more violent than ever before.  I was teaching deaf pre-k.  Now, I want to reiterate and say that the entire population was not violent...but before that, I would have maybe 1 or 2 violent children at a time....and I was up to about 3-5 violent children at a time.  Also, prior to this, we teachers would go into the homes prior to the child turning 3 years of age.  During those home visits, we w...

Watch out for Moles!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Saturday, September 17, 2011,
Today, I want to talk about moles.  Oh, you are probably thinking, that I am talking about the kind that you find on your body.  When they look suspicious, you go to the doctor and he/she cuts them out and has them analyzed.  They are then found to be benign in most cases...and that is a good thing.

But, I am not talking about the moles that you find on your bodies.  I am referring to the moles that you read or hear about in mystery novels or in suspense movies.....or sometimes even in the Whi...

When the "Victim" is really the Bully!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Thursday, August 25, 2011,
How easy is it for a victim to make a bully?  We always see it as the bully making the victim.  But, hear me out.  I really do think that victims can create bullies, especially here on the Internet.
If you become easily offended by someone else's opinion, and respond in an offended way, no matter what the other person says, from the audience's point of view, the person with the opinion is immediately turned into a bully, and the offended person a victim....even if they never intended to be....

Seeing the Bigger Picture

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Thursday, July 28, 2011,
I just got home from almost having a heat stroke and a nervous breakdown.  I told you the story about the eye appointment and that it went well....but I do need new glasses. So, today, I set out to look for the new glasses.  But, to be honest, something nagged at me this morning.  I felt sluggish.  I didn't feel like going out.  But, when something needs to be done, I have always tried to get it done "yesterday".....and so I went out.  It was a typical day.  I was stopped at a red light, it t...

Against ALL odds!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Friday, July 22, 2011,
I went to the eye doctors yesterday for an annual exam.  My mother has glaucoma and they now monitor me to make sure that I am not developing it.  I was told a year ago that I had "pre" glaucoma.  What was that I asked.  "It is the perfect scenario necessary to develop glaucoma" I was told.  Does that mean that I will get glaucoma?  The odds are that I will....but I don't go by the odds.  If there was a roll of the dice and we are counting on snake eyes for me to not get glaucoma, I have fait...

Is It Just Me?!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Wednesday, July 13, 2011,
My husband and I followed our nightly routine last night.  I got ready for bed while he finished up his email.  We both plopped on the bed and turned on the 11 PM news.  He started to snore just as they put on a story that was beyond belief as I proclaimed, "Did you hear that?!  What is this world coming to?!"  This is a nightly phrase, whether it is the 6 PM, 11PM, or Yahoo News.  I then proclaim, "Is it just me?!"  as in...."am I the only one who can see what is going on?!"  After all, aren...

My Friends

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Wednesday, June 22, 2011,
When I was a young girl, I used to scribble all over my notebook the names of my friends and the words LUV U or FriENDs until the END.  We really loved our friends and would abandon what we wanted to do if a friend called and wanted to get together.  They were our extended families.  Well, as an adult, not much has changed in that area.  My friends are still my extended family.  They are the people whom we choose to allow into our lives.

I think that where we sometimes get into trouble is when...

What if You were Born in a Different Country?!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Monday, March 21, 2011,
I have often thought about this:  What if I had been born to different parents in a different country?  It could have happened, but it didn't.  I always wonder what God had in mind for me when He put me here in the good 'ole US of A.  I also wonder about this when I hear people running down Muslims or when I hear someone call an African American a n*gger.  What would have happened to the name caller if they had been born inside of the other person's body....or what would have happened t...

MIA

MIA= Missing in Action
MIA=Mother in Action
MIA=Mostly Insane Actions

You can chose whichever you like.  Life just seems to get in the way of our best attempts at it, doesn't it?!  Mine does anyway.  We don't have any kids living with us...so we tend to do things long distance.  All of the kids live at least 1,000 miles away.  My mother lives 1,000 miles away.  My best friend...more like a sister...lives 1,000 miles away.  So, we are always MIA from the rest of the family.  That being said, you ...

I haven't been around much lately!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Friday, December 17, 2010,
I feel bad.  I had such great intentions when I first made this website.  I was going to blog at least every other day...then decided on once a week....and then I was lucky if I even thought about it once a month....and that even went by the wayside.  I just don't have the time like I would love to have.  So, I am pondering yet another idea.  I had started writing a book quite some time ago.  It is in my head....part of it is on disc....about 5 chapters.  I need to get the rest of it out.  I ...

It is time to expose the spirit of pride!

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Thursday, April 29, 2010,
Okay.....so I haven't been around for awhile.  It has been hectic and crazy in this world of mine.  My mother has been in and out of the hospital a lot.....and let me tell you....as much as I empathize and love her....I would be lying if I didn't tell you that I am visiting my own mortality.  It is scary to look at your parent and realize that you are looking into the mirror of your future.  She is a fighter though.  My mother doesn't allow anyone to get away with anything.  Her doctor has no...

Washing the floor or Decorating the Tree

Posted by IzzaBoutChu! on Friday, December 4, 2009,

My husband and I went away for Thanksgiving.  This morning, I woke up and decided that I really needed to clean the house.  We had been at my sister-in-law's and I usually clean before going...and didn't this time.  So, when we got back, I was exhausted and didn't feel good.  Things got neglected.  I cleaned the bathrooms and my kitchen cabinets and looked at the floors...argh.  I decided that I would clean the floors and then changed my mind when I realized that the tree and decorations wou...

Who Knew?!

First of all, I need to tell you that I turned 55 this past year.  Things are changing in my life.  Ten years ago, I could still do a cartwheel split.  I could jog and run.  I could jump with a jump rope.  Now, all that I can do is watch the rope go around while standing there nodding my head up and down like I am actually going to jump in.  When I have to run across a parking lot lane, it is more of a fast walking sprint.  I don't know when it happened exactly, but one day, wh...
